Yesterday evening (7 October) Peter Gibson MP joined a patrol with officers from British Transport Police to learn more about policing on the rail network in and around Darlington.
Peter Gibson MP said, “The patrol gave an incredible insight into the challenges faced by officers, and has shown just how valuable it is to have a visible police presence covering our transport network.
“During the patrol I got to learn more about the critical work the British Transport Police do.
“I was told about their operations, the key issues that they face, such as tackling trespassers, theft and county lines. It was great to see the reassuring presence they bring to passengers.
“PC Clough gave me in a great insight into the work of the British Transport Police and what they do to keep us safe on the railway”.
