Last night (24.4.24) Peter Gibson MP spoke in Parliament regarding proposed new laws for English football clubs.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Peter spoke about the importance of Darlington FC to the community and how important it is that it is protected so that fans can continue to enjoy the Quakers as they have done since 1883.
The Football Governance Bill seeks to protect local football clubs and ensure that fans have a say over key decisions. The Government is seeking, with cross party support, to set up an independent regulator to ensure that the future of football clubs is safe.
After the debate, Peter commented "Football is a key part of our community. I am proud to have secured over a million pounds worth of investment in pitches and goal posts in Darlington to ensure that all can play the great game.
"I am proud to support our football club in all they do, particularly their community work through their foundation and I share their ambition to have a dedicated stadium. I support the Bill which will ensure that our club and others can survive, thrive, and continue to bring us enjoyment".
