Today (7.2.2024) Peter Gibson MP spoke in the House of Commons about the Governments new plans for dentistry.
Peter stated: ‘I welcome the new plan which will help deliver dentistry in Darlington.’
Peter then went on to ask the Secretary of State for Health, Victoria Atkins, for advice on how to get the Integrated Care Board to commission a new dentist at Firthmoor Community Centre after being vacant for ten months.
Peter, referring to the plans for more dental training places, said:
“I urge the Health Secretary to look at Teesside University who have ambitions to build on their dental technology provision and train the Tees Valley Dentists of tomorrow”.
In response, the Health Secretary applauded the long-fought campaign by Peter for dentistry in Darlington. She went on to praise the Tees Valley calling it “a powerhouse of growth industries.”
Regarding the dentists at Firthmoor, the Health Secretary stated that the new plan expects ICB’s to deliver the new plan and ensure that dentists are available.
