Peter Gibson MP spoke today (6/12/23) in Westminster urging the Government to bring in a ban on conversion therapy.
‘I cannot believe that we are still having this debate’ said Gibson as he spoke of the length of time it has taken for Government to enact the ban.
Peter Gibson MP spoke of the record of Conservative Governments in bringing in Acts to protect citizens and declared that a ban on so-called conversion therapy would fall in line with this record.
The Conservative Party pledged in 2019 that it would ban conversion therapy yet, four years on and despite repeatedly stating continued support for the ban, no law has changed on it.
Peter Gibson MP urged the Government to bring in the ban now and closed saying "I know that the Minister will say that it is difficult, that it is complex and that the Government are looking at it.
