The Darlington Conservative Party have approved their candidate for Darlington for next general election.
Peter Gibson MP, who has served as Darlington’s MP since 2019, was reselected by members of the Darlington Conservative Association yesterday evening (7 Jun).
Peter Gibson was elected at the 2019 General Election where he defeated Labour, taking the seat for the Conservatives for the first time in 27 years and securing a majority of over 3,000.
Peter Gibson MP said “I am thrilled to have been reselected and approved to stand for Darlington MP at the next General Election- whenever that may be.
“I want to thank our Councillors, members and local volunteers for their amazing dedication, support and teamwork over the past three and a half years since my first initial selection.
“On the 4th December 2018, when I was chosen as the candidate for Darlington I promised to work hard, and on the 12th December 2019 when I was elected as Member of Parliament, I promised to work hard. I believe we, the entire Conservative team here in Darlington are working tirelessly to deliver a better Darlington for all.
“The last three years have presented us with many challenges, but dispute those we have focused on listening to residents’ concerns and have continually shared our exciting vision for Darlington’s future. The building blocks of success are being laid and the journey of levelling up continues at pace
